Hours: 36 hours per week, 52 weeks per annum 

Salary: £35,609 per annum

The School of Arts and Humanities at St Mary’s University, London, wishes to make a permanent full-time appointment to the position of Lecturer in English. We seek to appoint an early career lecturer with research and teaching expertise across a range of periods, but with a preferred expertise in the early modern period or the “long eighteenth century”. 

The successful candidate will possess a doctorate in English and have an established record of teaching excellence. They will have a track record of research publications, and be able to demonstrate clear research plans and outputs which would contribute to the English submission for REF 2020. The person appointed will join a collegial programme with a commitment to high quality teaching that was highly rated in the National Student Survey 2015, one of the most productive and well regarded research areas in the university, MA degrees in Gothic, Creative Writing and Applied Linguistics and a growing PhD culture. Good communication skills, a clear commitment to students, and an ability to work as part of a friendly department are essential for this position.
